Ekta Talwar is the Co-Founder of Uprotect LLC. She also started Uprotect, a personal safety mobile based application, which promotes university safety for campuses in the USA. She was inspired to create this app because of a gang rape in India, where a woman was raped and killed, and created a public uproar. She was affected by this and wants to eliminate fear and create a safer community for all women. Ekta received her Masters of Arts in Global Security Studies from Johns Hopkins University, 2017, her Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work and Social policy from Massey University, 2010, and a Certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution from York University, 2007. She attributes her success to the network of people on her team. In the future, Ekta’s goal is for the app to protect all people, and hopes it will eventually apply to domestic violence, and protect children from molestation and terrorist attacks. She donates and volunteers for Amnesty International. She is very proud of working for a Think Tank in India, where she wrote a report on freshwater conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia, and was recommended by World Bank for all international foreign aid donors.
