Dr. Fernanda Matias is the CTO of Meltech. She mentors students in Brazilian northeast to create startups in biotechnology, empowering them to make the difference in the semiarid.
She has a Postdoctoral Degree. Meltech is a biotech startup created in Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte and Brazil. Their purpose is help boost the use of the riches generated in the northeastern semi-arid region. As the name implies, Meltech came up using honey as the raw material for higher value products.
The first product made by the startup was mead - an alcoholic beverage made from honey, little known in the country, but appreciated since ancient times and commonly portrayed in viking and period productions. The drink is similar to wine and produced through the fermentation of honey, which the startup process reduced from 6 months to up to 15 days. Dr. Matias is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
