María del Carmen Portocarrero Varela, a 25 year Human Resources professional, has served as the Director of Human Capital and Corporate Responsibility for PwC Peru for the last 2 years (from 2016 to present). In this role she oversees all HR processes and the 4 drivers in PwC including Social Activism, Diversity, Good Governance and Cross Generation Cohesion & Cooperation. Her specializations include; Organizational Structure & Architecture, HR Strategic Planning, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Workforce Planning, Executive Staffing, Design of Learning and Executive Educational Programs, Cultural Change initiatives, Mergers & Acquisitions, Employee Relations, Negotiation with Unions, Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity & Inclusion. Prior to taking on her role with PwC, she held strategic HR management positions in leading multinational companies in several industries, and in the UN, in New York, with assignments Europe, Asia and Central America. Maria was prompted to choose her profession because her vision of life is to know people's behavior and help them. She likes helping people with their career and professional development and recognized this in herself very early. Her goals for the next several years, in fact, is to continue to work in the filed of Human Capital and help people develop professionally, particularly females to become CEOs. Her keys to success have been perseverance, working hard, commitment to her profession and leadership. She considers achieving the goals that she has set for herself in the past and continuing to set higher and higher goals her greatest professional achievement. She has joined WAoFP to share best practices and have light shown on the best ideas. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
