Melissa Yanhko is the owner of Ink Works Studio. She designs homes and buildings for people to live in, as they actually live. These include special homes that are environmentally friendly and family friendly. Typically, she makes the homes for those who live in her locality and nearby cities and towns. However, she has done specialty projects in other states and, if the project is special enough, she is willing to take it on, wherever it may be.
As a child, Melissa's mom constantly took her to open houses and Melissa became intrigued by the fact the homes were not truly designed for the way people actually live in homes day-to-day. She decided that she would grow up and design such homes.
Melissa works directly with families and couples one-to-one and designs homes especially for clients. She really takes the time to get to know those for whom she designs. Her proudest achievement was designing a home over several years for a couple that wanted the greenest home possible, and won the "Greenest Home" award in Virginia in 2009.
