Within her current role the main objective is to set the strategy and plan for operations and sales, while looking in details that terms and conditions in current and future contracts result in a win-win situation for both parties involved. The team looks over the entire process from identifying opportunities where products and services can be used to add value to customers, going through the process of preparing economic and technical offers, planning for execution when awarded, reviewing terms and conditions and later on managing performance.

Sonia started out in the company as a training Engineer in operations in Venezuela, being the first woman hired in the country in operations in that product line, and has grown in different areas, operations, sales and commercial. After 6 and a half years, she was transferred to Germany, where she had a lot of exposure of not only the business itself but the diversity of European cultures. After four years in Germany, she became pregnant with identical twins, and during her maternity leave period her husband got a temporary assignment to Argentina and made the move with 7 months old twins. At the same time she started a Global MBA, half way through the MBA, registered for a second Masters degree in Strategic Operations Management and Innovation, and before finishing that one she registered for a third Masters degree in Competitive Intelligence in Globalized Environments. She finished the three masters in two years right on the same period where her transfer with the company finally materialized and started with her current role.

During her time in Germany she served as Mentor in the University of Leibniz where her mentee was a Chinese student working on her PhD. She has also been a mentor in the Cherie Blair Foundation, to an Indian entrepreneur. Her professional passions are, besides continue growing in current globalized environment: Mentoring (especially young professionals), Raising awareness on cultural differences and its impact to get better results, and Commercial contract management. In the future, she plans to get enrolled towards the commercial oil industry and grow the business with strong base for all parties involved.
